No one can question the quality and speed especially when compared to traditional methods. I have been involved with this type of operation for years and the Rhinopatch system from ASI is changing the way work can be carried out – its faster and far more reliable plus my teams are now highly skilled and take pride in what they do.

The process is so fast and creates so little disruption that our customers are really happy with the service we give. Also, because of the savings, we are able to provide significantly more services to our customers from within the same budget and I can better use my own DLO’s in other tasks. It is nice to know that as an added advantage there is the “Green” side. It is up to us in the Public Sector to lead on reducing our environmental impact and it is nice to know that this Division is making a significant contribution to these reduction targets.

I was impressed with the speed that the process can be undertaken. I was initially told that in excess of 20000m2 can be achieved in a shift, however on some nights under full road closure outputs were in excess of 30000m2. This helps significantly in terms of reducing traffic management costs and minimising delay to the travelling public. In terms of the treatment it has been very successful to date and overall the surface has not changed appearance at either site since the date of installation. Bearing in mind that we have suffered a reasonable amount of rainfall lately I would have at least expected to find a small number of failures if the surface had not been treated. The forthcoming winter months will be the true test as to whether the product has been a full success or not.

The contract involved applying Rhinophalt, approximately 15,000 square metres, on the A24 Cooil Road, Braddan in the Isle of Man. This road had been reconstructed in the Autumn of 1995 with dense Bitumous Macadam Wearing Surface. The road is part of the Outer Route around Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man, it also serves a busy industrial estate. Since Rhinophalt has been applied we seem to have achieved an extended lifespan of the macadam surface.

The use of Rhinophalt will play a significant part in the future of highway maintenance and we are pleased to be leading the way in its use and taking innovation forward. It’s not only the cost effectiveness of the material but the speed and ease of application means we can close the road after 11 pm and open it again by 5 am having treated at least 15,000 m2 of highway with minimum disruption to the motorists. What other processes can you undertake so quickly and get so much from in return? This is the first contract we have used this process (Rhinophalt) on and from what we have seen we are already considering it for our other contract in the UK. I cannot see how anyone can ignore the possibilities available through the use of this process, we believe that preservatives are a big part of the future for highway maintenance and we are pleased to be at the forefront of this innovation.

Even without the financial benefit, the environmental advantages [of Rhinopatch and Rhinophalt] are so much greater over the traditional methods that it will be recommended for implementation.

The ASI method of infra-red patching has the unique benefit of the Rhinophalt preservative applied to the whole of the heated area, ensuring that the maximum amount of heated surface is protected from further deterioration for the length of the life of the existing surface.

We found Rhinoseal to be a very innovative and effective solution to a problem we had with sunken patches in a car park. The alternative would have involved excavation and re-lay which would have been very difficult and disruptive given the constraints of the space available. This would inevitably have resulted in noise and dust problems as well as a lengthy period of closure for a very important and well used town centre car park.

ASI Solutions plc provided excellent information and assistance prior to the contract and the organization and execution of the on-site works was also of a very high standard. We would not hesitate to use this system and employ this company for similar projects in future.

When I first heard about Rhinopatch I thought it was too good to be true, but I don’t think so 5 years on … it’s ended up being a good news story … I’m totally sold on it.
