Rhinophalt Testimonials

I was impressed with the speed that the process can be undertaken. I was initially told that in excess of 20000m2 can be achieved in a shift, however on some nights under full road closure outputs were in excess of 30000m2. This helps significantly in terms of reducing traffic management costs and minimising delay to the travelling public. In terms of the treatment it has been very successful to date and overall the surface has not changed appearance at either site since the date of installation. Bearing in mind that we have suffered a reasonable amount of rainfall lately I would have at least expected to find a small number of failures if the surface had not been treated. The forthcoming winter months will be the true test as to whether the product has been a full success or not.

The contract involved applying Rhinophalt, approximately 15,000 square metres, on the A24 Cooil Road, Braddan in the Isle of Man. This road had been reconstructed in the Autumn of 1995 with dense Bitumous Macadam Wearing Surface. The road is part of the Outer Route around Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man, it also serves a busy industrial estate. Since Rhinophalt has been applied we seem to have achieved an extended lifespan of the macadam surface.

The use of Rhinophalt will play a significant part in the future of highway maintenance and we are pleased to be leading the way in its use and taking innovation forward. It’s not only the cost effectiveness of the material but the speed and ease of application means we can close the road after 11 pm and open it again by 5 am having treated at least 15,000 m2 of highway with minimum disruption to the motorists. What other processes can you undertake so quickly and get so much from in return? This is the first contract we have used this process (Rhinophalt) on and from what we have seen we are already considering it for our other contract in the UK. I cannot see how anyone can ignore the possibilities available through the use of this process, we believe that preservatives are a big part of the future for highway maintenance and we are pleased to be at the forefront of this innovation.

In the long term these treatments have been extremely successful. 7 years ago we repaired a stretch of road with Rhinopatch and then preserved it with Rhinophalt. We have not had to do any repairs on that piece of road since and we would normally have expected to carry out a number of patch repairs. It was a very, very quick operation that has given us 7 years of life.
