Repair and Patching

ASI has been at the forefront of developments of infra-red repair solutions with its world renowned Rhinopatch process, the first infra-red repair system to be HAPAS approved in the UK.  This method will provide a joint free repair together with recycling of the materials that are in place.

Part of ASI’s unique process; is to also apply its preservative materials, to the completed work to further reinforce the efficacy of the repair.  For the best results four ASI products are employed in the process a rejuvenator added to the existing binder in the recycled materials, a preservative to protect the repair, fine silica aggregate to ensure skid levels are maintained and where replacement materials are required to make up losses, a Cold Replacement Material manufactured from RAP.

In addition ASI has designed a range of Infra-red heaters for carrying out repairs which range from half a metre square to a machine designed specifically for trench and joint repairs enabling a 5 metre repair to be affected in one process.

The repair process is carried out by a selection of approved Strategic Delivery Partners which enables full coverage on an international basis.

Benefits of Repair Processes

  • CO2 reduction by >90% over conventional methods

  • Full in situ recycling

  • Speedy joint free repairs

  • Often provided with a pavement life time warranty

When to undertake Repair

Repairs are us usually carried out when the surface is ravelling, cracking or potholes are appearing.

The PCI is an internationally recognised numerical index, between 0 and 100, which is used by Asset Managers to indicate the condition of a roadway or airport surface. Widely used in transportation and civil engineering, the PCI score is a numerical representation of a pavements overall state and can thus be used to estimate the type and extent of repair work together with the likely cost.
